Discovering Fiction, An Introduction Kay/Gelshenen |

|
Pre-intermediate Discovering Fiction, An Introduction, will become the lowest level of a three-book series in which short stories written by American and Canadian writers are used as the basis for developing reading skills, enhancing language learning, and promoting the enjoyment of literature. Stories in the higher two levels are unsimplified, while Discovering Fiction, An Introduction, the newest title in the anthology, includes stories that have been simplified. This allows lower-level students to enjoy classic North American literature including such authors as Edgar Allen Poe, Mark Twain, Sinclair Lewis, and Morley Callaghan. Discovering Fiction, An Introduction, will have the same unit and chapter structure as the two higher level books. There will be four units, each containing three stories that are related in terms of their theme; extensive prereading and post-reading tasks will accompany each story. Unlike the other two books, however, an audio CD containing a reading of each story will be packaged into each Student's Book. |
